MARY KAY ASH CHARITABLE FOUNDATION’S SHELTER GRANT PROGRAM TO SEE $8,500 GRANTS MAKE A DIFFERENCE ACROSS THE COUNTRY

Mississauga, ON , August 16, 2018

In a time when a collective voice can make a difference, the Mary Kay Ash Charitable Foundation is standing in solidarity in support of those women and children who feel they are neither heard, nor seen, during the 2018 Shelter Grant Program.

This is the mission behind The Mary Kay Ash Charitable Foundation’s Shelter Grant program, which launches on August 16 with the goal of awarding an $8,500 grant to a shelter in each province/territory throughout Canada.

“Domestic violence doesn’t discriminate based on age, race, or economic background. In fact, in their lifetime, 1 in 3 women will experience some form of domestic violence. Shelters are a safe haven, offering somewhere to regain their confidence and feel safe,” said Dawn Gerry, Director of the Mary Kay Ash Charitable Foundation and National Director of Marketing for Mary Kay Cosmetics Ltd. “Thanks to the generous contributions to the Mary Kay Ash Charitable Foundation in 2017 by the Mary Kay independent sales force, their customers and consumers, the Foundation is continuing its Shelter Grant program. These grants contribute to shelters and programs that often change the course of these women’s lives – and the lives of their children – giving them an opportunity for hope and healing.”

Since 2004, The Mary Kay Ash Charitable Foundation has supported the prevention and elimination of domestic violence. Through the Foundation’s annual shelter grant program, over $1.4 million has been granted to domestic violence organizations. Each year, grants are awarded to at least one domestic violence shelter in every province or territory in Canada

About The Mary Kay Ash Charitable Foundation
The Mary Kay Ash Charitable Foundation was established in Canada in 2001, and its mission is two-fold: to support women living with cancer through the Look Good Feel Better® program and to support survivors of domestic violence by providing grants to women's shelters and community outreach programs. Since 2001, it has awarded more than $1.4 Million to shelters and programs addressing domestic violence and almost $1 million to help women going through cancer treatment throughout Canada.
