EXCITING NEW FUNDRAISING INITIATIVE PROVES THERE IS POWER IN ONE

Mississauga, ON , August 16, 2017

Within each of us lies the power to make a difference in someone’s life. This year, Mary Kay Independent Sales Force Members celebrated this belief along with their customers during the brand new Power of One Fundraising Challenge in support of the Mary Kay Ash Charitable Foundation, which saw almost $50,000 in donations raised.

Independent Sales Force members from across the country held fundraising events, such as bake sales, car washes and charity events, to support this challenge, as well as awareness for the Foundation, which supports those women affected by cancer and domestic violence.

“Well, it’s a story familiar to so many. All of the things that the Foundation stands for – supporting women with cancer and those affected by domestic violence – have touched my life. For me, knowing that 96 cents of every donated dollar goes where it should is important. Many hands make light work, and we can all truly make a difference,” says the Independent Sales Director of the Top Fundraising Unit for 2016, Jill Ashmore. “You have to give back and keep the people in the community alive; it keeps the community running. It’s all about people working together in support of a common cause. Every person needs to feel a sense of value and has something to give.”

Mary Kay herself knew that one person could make a lasting difference, and were even stronger when they worked together. Funds raised during this challenge are donated to programs that assist women living with cancer and those women and children affected by domestic violence.

About The Mary Kay Ash Charitable Foundation
The Mary Kay Ash Charitable Foundation was established in Canada in 2001, and its mission is two-fold: to support women living with cancer through the Look Good Feel Better® program and to help end violence against women by providing grants to women's shelters and community outreach programs. Since then, it has awarded $1,241,100 to shelters and programs addressing domestic violence and almost $1 million to help women going through cancer treatment throughout Canada. From every dollar raised, 96 cents goes to these two important causes. To learn more about The Mary Kay Ash Charitable Foundation, visit www.marykay.ca.
