Throughout her life, Mary Kay Ash showed others how to live, and how to give. She gave hope to women who lacked opportunity and self-esteem, and she gave financial support to the causes she believed in. Today, we honour her legacy of love through The Mary Kay Ash Charitable Foundation, which was founded in Canada in 2001.
Through its grant program and awareness initiatives, the Foundation supports women living with the appearance-related side effects of cancer through Look Good Feel Better, and by contributing to women's domestic violence shelters and supporting community outreach programs.
Since its inception, the Foundation has awarded almost $1 million to help women going through cancer treatment throughout Canada.
Domestic Violence Shelter Grant Program
Since 2004, the Mary Kay Ash Charitable Foundation has awarded more than $1.241 Million to shelters and programs addressing domestic violence.
Each year, the Shelter Grant program runs from August to October, but we’re doing things a bit differently in 2020. Given that we are currently dealing with a global pandemic, COVID-19, the Mary Kay Ash Charitable Foundation decided to aid 49 shelters around the nation with $2,000 donations each. As a result of these donations, and the nature of the current situation, the Shelter Grant program will not be happening this year. The program will reinitiate in 2021 with the same efforts of lending a helping hand to women and children suffering from domestic violence
