Mary Kay Ash's philosophy of giving led to the establishment of the The Mary Kay FoundationSM in the United States in 1996. Established in 2001 in Canada, the Mary Kay Ash Charitable Foundation (MKACF) helps carry on Mary Kay's legacy with its unified mission to support women living with cancer and to put an end to domestic violence. Here are a few of the Foundation's milestones since it began.


2020

Winter 2020: Mary Kay Canada and the Mary Kay Ash Charitable Foundation pledges to match individual donations made to Look Good Feel Better® from November 23 to December 31. A donation of $25,000 is made to the organization as part of the annual match campaign.

Winter 2020: The limited-edition Wrapped in Love Fleece Blanket sells out in record-breaking speed – raising an amazing $93,218 in just 15 days.

Spring 2020: The Mary Kay Ash Charitable Foundation donates $100,000 to Look Good Feel Better for the eighth consecutive year. 

Spring 2020: Mary Kay Canada launches annual Power of One Fundraising Challenge for independent sales force members to drive donations to the Foundation, raising $47,372.

Spring 2020: $1 from each sale of the limited-edition Mary Kay® Intuitive pH Lip Balm is donated to the Mary Kay Ash Charitable Foundation, raising a total of $18,421. 

Spring 2020: In urgent response to the pressures COVID-19 has placed on domestic violence, the Foundation donates $98,000 total to 49 domestic violence shelters across Canada. 

Winter 2019/Spring 2020: Sales from the limited-edition Keep Cozy Hat & Scarf Set raised $40,896.96.

Winter 2019/2020: The limited-edition Gold Glitter Holiday Bag Collection raises $4,943 for the Foundation.

December 2019: Mary Kay Canada pledges to match individual donations made to Look Good Feel Better® from November 23 to December 31. A donation of $20,000 is made, helping to raise a total of $56,110 and 150 more women will be able to experience the Look Good Feel Better workshop.

December 2019: Through the Shelter Grant program, the Foundation is able to award a total of $105,500 in grants that will benefit 12 shelters and community outreach programs across Canada, supporting them to continue their life-altering work to help women in need.

Summer 2019: The Spring/Summer CSR campaign – which saw $1 from the sale of each Pink Changing Lives® limited-edition Matte Lipstick in Paparazzi Pink from May 16 – August 15 donated to the Foundation raises $7,733.

May 2019: The Foundation donates $100,000 to the Look Good Feel Better program. 

Spring 2019: Mary Kay Canada launches annual Power of One Fundraising Challenge for independent sales force members to drive donations to the MKACF, raising $27,386 for the Foundation.

December 2018: Through the Shelter Grant program, the Foundation is able to award a total of 7 grants of $8,500 each to shelters and community outreach programs in need across Canada. 

Summer 2018: The Spring/Summer CSR campaign – which saw $1 from the sale of each Pink Changing Lives® limited-edition Gel Semi-Matte Lipstick in Powerful Pink from May 12 – August 15 donated to the Foundation – raises $2,223.

Summer 2017: The Summer CSR campaign – which saw $2 from the sale of each Beauty That Counts® limited-edition Baked Cheek Powder in Kind Heart and Giving Heart from May 16 – August 15 donated to the Foundation – raises $36,204. 

May 2017: Mary Kay Canada launches the Power of One Fundraising Challenge for independent sales force members to drive donations to the MKACF, surpassing their fundraising goal by raising almost $50,000 for the Foundation.

2016 

2016: MKACF Seeds of Hope note cards raise $6,848.72. MKACF Be Grateful Bracelet Set raises $19,106.64. MKACF Pretty in Pink Holiday Ornament raises $7000.

December 2016: Through the Shelter Grant program, the Foundation is able to make available a total of 10 grants of $10,000 each to shelters across Canada based on applications received from shelters and community outreach programs in need. 

August 2016: The second annual MK5K (renamed The Diane Tsialtas Memorial Run) raises more than $25,000 for the Foundation. While at the event, the Foundation once again presents a cheque for $100,000 to Look Good Feel Better. 

Summer 2016: The Spring/Summer CSR campaign – which saw $1 from the sale of each Beauty That Counts® limited-edition Hearts Together Lipstick from May 16 – August 15 donated to the Foundation – raises $9,354.

May 2010: Mary Kay Canada continues the success of the Team Up for Women!® Challenge for independent sales force members to drive donations to the MKACF, raising a record-breaking $46,000. 

February 2010: The 2nd annual Pink at the Rink event scored big for the Mary Kay Ash Charitable Foundation, raising over $2,700.

2009

December 2009: The Mary Kay Ash Charitable Foundation reaches the $1 million donation mark in less than 10 years! 

December 2009: The Shelter Grant program awards a total of 11 grants of $10,000 each to shelters across Canada based on applications received from shelters and community outreach programs in need. 

November 2009: Mary Kay Cosmetics Ltd. has been the title sponsor for the Celebration of Hope Breast Cancer Luncheon, which has raised $1,132,000 over the past four years. 

August 2009: Thanks to an incredible outpouring of support, the Shelter Grant program is making available a total of 11 grants of $8,000 each to shelters across Canada based on applications received from shelters and community outreach programs in need. 

July 2009: The 2009 MKACF Teddy Bear, Bella, is introduced with the potential to raise $40,000 for the Foundation. 

May 2009: The 2009 Beauty That Counts® campaign is in full swing, From now until December 15, 2009, $1 from each Mary Kay Crème Lipstick sold in all-time favourite Gingerbread and on-trend limited-edition Pink Passion will be donated to the Foundation. 

February 2009: Mary Kay Cosmetics Ltd. partners with The Toronto Marlies for the first-ever Mary Kay Pink at the Rink event, which raises over $4,000 for the Foundation. 

2008

December 2008: The Shelter Grant program awards a total of 10 grants of $6,000 each to shelters across Canada based on applications received from shelters and community outreach programs in need.

December 2008: The Beauty That Counts® campaign raises $65,000 for the Foundation. 

August 2008: An adorable addition to the MKACF Teddy Bear family, ToBee, is introduced and raises over $29,002. 

May 2008: Mary Kay Canada continues the success of the the Team Up for Women!® Challenge for independent sales force members to drive donations to the MKACF, raising more than $40,000.

2007

December 2007: The Shelter Grant program awards a total of 10 grants of $5,000 each to shelters across Canada based on applications received from shelters and community outreach programs in need. 

August 2007: The MKACF's fifth teddy bear, Harmony, is introduced and goes on to raise $49,172. 

May 2007: Mary Kay Canada runs the the Team Up for Women!® Challenge to independent sales force members to drive donations to the MKACF from independent sales force members and their customers. More than $39,000 was raised.

2006

December 2006: Thanks to fundraising support, the Shelter Grant Program is once again able to award a total of 10 grants of $3,000 each to shelters across Canada based on applications received from shelters and community outreach programs in need. 

August 2006: The MKACF continues its fundraising efforts with the creation of its fourth Teddy Bear, Shelbee, which raised a total of $36,366. 

May 2006: Mary Kay Canada continues the success of the Team Up for Women!® Challenge for independent sales force members to drive donations to the MKACF from independent sales force members and their customers. More than $40,000 was raised. 

April 2006: The MKACF donates $30,000 to support the Victim Services of Peel crisis intervention program. A $10,000 donation will be made each year for the next three years. To recognize the donation, Victim Services of Peel names their "Living Wall" - a massive indoor green space located at the Victim Services of Peel offices - to honour the MAKCF and its commitment to supporting community outreach programs that work to put an end to violence against women. 

2005

September 2005: As a result of increased fundraising efforts by the MKACF in 2005, the Shelter Grant Program awarded a total of 10 grants of $3,000 each to shelters across Canada based on applications received from shelters and community outreach programs in need. 

August 2005: The MKACF family continues to grow with the creation of its third Teddy Bear, Ashlee, in a continued effort to raise funds for the Foundation. She raises $34,836. 

May 2005: Mary Kay Canada launches the Team Up for Women!® Challenge to independent sales force members to drive donations to the MKACF from independent sales force members and their customers. More than $23,000 was raised. 

2004

December 2004: The Shelter Grant Program was created as a project of the MKACF in in an effort to reach communities across Canada where there are limited fundraising resources. In 2004, the Shelter Grant Program awarded grants of $1,500 each to 12 shelters across Canada based on applications received from shelters and community outreach programs in need. 

August 2004: The MKACF's second Teddy Bear, Mumphrey, was created to raise funds for the Foundation and raised a total of $35,467. 

May 2004: Mary Kay Canada launches the Team Up for Women!® Challenge to independent sales force members to drive donations to the MKACF from independent sales force members and their customers. More than $16,000 was raised. 

2003

December 2003: Thanks to the support of its Sales Force Members, The Mary Kay Ash Charitable Foundation donates $25,000 to Interim Place, a local shelter, and $35,000 to Shelternet.ca. 

August 2003: The first MKACF Teddy Bear, Charity, was created to raise funds for the Foundation, raising $36,104. The Teddy Bears are available for just $25 through Canadian Independent Beauty Consultants. 

July 2003: The Canadian MKACF donates $35,000 to Shelternet.ca, a Web site for women and their children. 

January 2003: And Stirred With Love Cookbook debuts featuring favourite recipes from Mary Kay Ash and Independent National Sales Directors from around the world. Proceeds from the cookbook benefit the MKACF.

2002

December 2002: In its first year, thanks to the support of its Sales Force Members, The Mary Kay Ash Charitable Foundation donates $34,500 to Shelternet and $14,500 to the CCTFA Foundation. 

2001

November 2001: Beloved Founder Mary Kay Ash dies. 

August 2001: The MKACF is launched in Canada. It announces support for the Look Good Feel Better program, a non-profit service for female cancer patients and pledges to help end violence against women.

1996

February 1996: A long-time supporter in the fight against cancer, Mary Kay Ash establishes the MKACF in the United States to raise money for cancer research related to women's health.
