Making a Difference

A home is much more than a house, it should be a safe haven filled with comfort and love. But for those women and children affected by domestic violence, this is not the case.

However, with your help, there is hope. Through annual initiatives like the Shelter Grant program, the Foundation has donated over $731,000 to shelters and outreach programs across Canada since it began in 2006, you are helping us make a difference in the lives of those women and children affected by domestic violence.

How We’ve Enriched Lives

“I would like to thank you and the YWCA December 6 Fund for supporting me and my five-year-old daughter in our life changing move to a place of our own. There is no way I would have been able to improve our living situation without your help this quickly. I am grateful that this program exists and I consider ourselves lucky to have found you. Thank you for your kindness and understanding.”

“I am writing to thank you and the YWCA December 6 Fund team for helping me. I want you to know that I am very grateful for all that you’ve done for me. You all must sleep well at night for just being you. I know my sleep will be much better now that I will have a bed to sleep on. You’ve made a big difference in my life and maybe one day I will be able to help someone like me. I just want to say thank you from my heart. Now I have a new beginning and a life without broken ribs and black eyes.”
